UK-based supplier to the foodservice sector Brakes Group has launched a range of compostable food packaging and catering disposables including salad and take-away boxes, soup and deli containers, chip trays, hot drinks cups and lids and cutlery from Vegware, a compostable food packaging firm in the UK.
The low-carbon products from Vegware are certified by an Eco Audit, which allows caterers to analyze carbon saved against standard packaging and virgin material saved, caterersearch.com reported.
In 2011, the company's UK customers saved 260t of carbon and all its products including natural starches and fibers are made from renewable or recycled materials and can be recycled along with food waste.
Brakes Group marketing director James Armitage said Vegware is the practical range on the market and offers the lowest environmental impact.
"Vegware can also help any UK business divert catering waste from landfill through its Food Waste Network and will provide our clients with environmental audits as part of the invoicing," Armitage added.
